The Sfusato Amalfitano or Limone Costa d’Amalfi IGP is a source of pride for the Amalfi Coast, and thanks to it many typical dishes of Campania come to life. The IGP Amalfi Coast Lemon has a long history, which began when the citrus fruit spread thanks to a decree of the Republic of Amalfi. The decree required lemons to be stocked on all ships, with the aim of fighting scurvy among sailors, thanks to the presence of vitamin C.
Grown on the Coast, the Sfusato Amalfitano is citrus yellow in colour and owes its strong aroma to the presence of an essential oil. This makes it particularly suitable for many traditional food preparations. One of them is the scialatiello with Amalfi lemons. Fresh pasta, Amalfi lemons, prawns and cherry tomatoes: scialatielli with lemon is a real journey into the flavours of the Mediterranean, a dish born on the Amalfi coast, in the restaurants by the sea, which manages to combine simplicity of preparation and refinement of taste.
