Tham Khao Luang Cave is linked to King Rama V as he ordered the casting of the large Buddha in the cave to honor his processors Kings Rama III and Rama IV.
The Tham Khao Luang Cave is situated in Khao Luang Hill not far from Phetchaburi city. The Tham Khao Luang Cave is well visited by Thai Buddhists as it houses many Buddha’s and Religious artifacts. When you visit you can see Thai Buddhists praying, burning incense and laying offers in front of the 170 Buddha’s found inside. Even King Rama IV used to meditate and pray inside in the cave under his reign.
As with Phraya Nakhon Cave South of Hua Hin this Cave has an air hole in the ceiling of the cave, letting in light. The light coupled with the beautiful Buddha’s, Stupas named Chedi and stunning natural stalactites, makes Tham Khao Luang Cave stunning to see. Bring a camera as this a place you will want to capture on film.
