The undisputed charm of Taormina lies largely in the landscape in which it is set. The beautiful Sicilian town is located about 205 meters above sea level on a rocky plateau of Mount Tauro overlooking the Ionian Sea. The panorama, from any point you look at it, leaves you open-mouthed, giving suggestions halfway between dreaming and waking. An enchantment between the sea and Mount Etna.
One of the most suggestive places in Taormina is the Greek Theatre, which allows the spectators of the events to admire in the background an extraordinary panorama that goes from the coast of Calabria to the top of Etna.
Corso Umberto is the main street and the heart of the city. Walking along this street you can experience the true essence of Taormina. There are many shops where you can go shopping, bars where you can refresh yourself with a good Sicilian granita or an ice cream, restaurants where you can taste typical Sicilian dishes and not only. All surrounded by unique monuments and beauties such as the Cathedral of Taormina, the Palazzo Corvaja or the Villa Comunale.
Taormina is certainly known for its monuments and history, but it is also renowned for its beaches. The sea of Taormina is spectacular from a landscape point of view: the beaches are almost always located among the Mediterranean vegetation, which makes them unique and special. The most sought-after beach by tourists is surely that of Isola Bella, a small island connected to the mainland by a tongue of sand.
