Taj Falaknuma Palace, the former palace of the Nizam of Hyderabad is now a Taj heritage hotel.
The former residence of the Nizam of Hyderabad, this palatial Taj hotel is located in a sprawling 32 acre estate of gardens and fountains. The name Falaknuma means ‘mirror of the sky’, a reference to its hilly location. Perched at a height of 2,000 feet above Hyderabad, it offers panoramic views of the city. Although it was originally commissioned by Nawab Vikar Ul-Umra, the Prime Minister of Hyderabad, it also caught the fancy of the seventh Nizam and was taken over by him in 1895.
