The peculiarity of this suburban district of the city of Tartu, suspended in time, is to be found in the name of the streets. Not surprisingly, it’s called "Soup Town" because its streets are named after potatoes, peas, beans – a big soup. Unique wooden houses in different colours, green gardens, the Emajõgi River and the frog pond are all part of Supilinn’s identity and community. Add to this the village swing (at the intersection of Kartuli tänav and Oa tänav), the legendary Herne Shop (Herne 6), Saiasahwer Bakery (Herne 20), unique street art and the annual district days held in spring.
