Sultan Park

Sultan Park is a public park located in the center of Malé, the capital of the Maldives. It covers an area of about 8 hectares and is one of the oldest parks in the country. The park was opened in 1989 and was built on the site of the former Sultan Palace, which was destroyed by fire in 1968.The park is an oasis of tranquility in the heart of the busy city of Malé and is popular with tourists and locals. The park has numerous green areas, fountains, walking paths and benches where visitors can relax and enjoy the view.In addition, the park houses the National Museum of the Maldives, which is located inside the former Sultan’s Palace. The museum was opened in 1952 and houses an extensive collection of artifacts and objects documenting the history and culture of the Maldives.Among the artifacts on display are traditional weapons, musical instruments, traditional costumes, and archaeological finds. The museum also houses an extensive collection of photographs, paintings, and manuscripts documenting the history of the Maldives from its founding to the present day.The park is open every day except Fridays and is one of the most popular places in Malé for walking, picnicking or just relaxing.
