The Cartastorie, Museum of the Historical Archive of the Banco di Napoli, was created to enhance the enormous patrimony of stories and characters preserved in the writings of the ancient Neapolitan public counters. About eighty kilometres of shelves contain seventeen million names, hundreds of thousands of payments and detailed causal details that reconstruct a living fresco of Naples and the whole of Southern Italy, from 1573 to the present day. A treasure trove of memories 450 years long.
The Cartastorie, using every available channel of divulgation, from multimedia to creative writing, gives back to the city and the whole world the voices, the narrations and the events immortalized on the countless pages of the tomes of the Historical Archive of the Banco di Napoli.
