This small lake in a clearing of mesophilic woodland is probably of tectonic-glacial origin and is located in a grassy hollow at the foot of Bric dell’Ombra (1108 m).
During the summer the pond dries out almost completely and the bottom remains muddy.
Fauna: this once perennial pond still hosts a rich population of Rana temporaria, but it is also possible to observe the spotted newt (Triturus vulgaris) and the collared newt (Natrix natrix). Among the insects there is a large population of ditiscus marginatus (Ditiscus marginatus) and various species of damselflies (Agrionidae) adapted to survive despite the dry summer period.
The roe deer (Capreolus capreolus), the wild boar (Sus scrofa), the short-toed eagle (Circaetus gallicus) and the buzzard (Buteo buteo) are easily sighted in the area.
Flora: brazil (Potamogeton polygonifolius), marsh violet
