In the heart of Transylvania, the home of Vlad Tepes who inspired the character of Count Dracula, stands the fortified city of Sighisoara. Around the medieval old town, perfectly preserved and declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO, is visible and passable most of the walls, built to protect the Romanian city from the Tartar invasion during the 14th and 15th centuries. Along the circle of the ancient walls there are still numerous towers and some stretches covered by a characteristic wooden roof.
