Secret World Review 2026: Tested in Cairo, Egypt - Il Cairo | Secret World Trip Planner

Cairo overwhelms you before you even open Google Maps. Three pyramids at Giza, the Egyptian Museum with over 120,000 artifacts, Khan el-Khalili with its maze of alleys and spices, the Citadel of Saladin that dominates the city from above: figuring out where to start is the real problem. I used Secret World to plan five days in Cairo in March 2026, and this is my honest review.

Secret World Review 2026: Tested in Cairo, Egypt - Il Cairo | Secret World Trip Planner

I'm not a very organized traveler. I usually arrive with a list of saved places on Instagram and then improvise. This time I wanted to try a different approach, relying on an AI trip planner to see if it could really make a difference in a complex city like Cairo, where distances are tricky and traffic can ruin half a day if you get the order of visits wrong.

How Secret World Works: What I Asked the AI

The interface is clean and straightforward. I wrote something like: “I am in Cairo for 5 days, I want to see the Pyramids of Giza, the Egyptian Museum, the Islamic area, and Coptic Cairo, but I don’t want to spend hours in a taxi. I have a medium budget, about 60-80 euros a day all included”. The response was not a generic list: the AI grouped the attractions by geographical area, optimizing the movements. It combined Coptic Cairo and the Egyptian Museum on the same day because both are located in the central area, reachable by metro in less than 20 minutes of travel.

It also specified details that you usually have to look for elsewhere: the ticket for the Pyramids of Giza costs about 450 EGP (about 9 euros) for basic entry, but if you want to enter the King’s Chamber of the Great Pyramid, you need to add another 600 EGP. It warned me to book the visit to the Egyptian Museum early in the morning, by 9:00 AM, to avoid the lines from organized tours that arrive around 10:30. These are exactly the kind of concrete information I was looking for.

The generated itinerary: precise or generic?

The plan for Cairo that Secret World has built was structured intelligently. Day one dedicated to settling into the Zamalek neighborhood, with a walk along the Nile and local dinner at the Abou El Sid restaurant, where traditional Egyptian cuisine is served at an average cost of 15-20 euros per person. Day two: Giza in the morning (recommended to arrive at opening time at 8:00 AM to avoid the heat and crowds), then afternoon at Saqqara with the Step Pyramid of Djoser, about 30 km from Giza. The AI calculated that with a private taxi, the transfer costs about 20-25 euros and allows connecting the two sites without returning to the city.

The third day was dedicated to the Islamic area: Ibn Tulun Mosque, Citadel, and then Khan el-Khalili for the late afternoon, when the light is better and the market is livelier. Secret World estimated about 4-5 hours to comfortably cover this walking route, with a lunch break at Koshary El Tahrir, a local place where you can eat for less than 3 euros. These directions were accurate: I verified them on the ground.

Pros and cons after five days of use

The strengths are evident. Secret World excels in logistical optimization: in Cairo, where traffic can turn 5 km into 45 minutes, knowing exactly in what order to visit sites makes a huge difference. The AI takes into account opening hours, closing days (the Egyptian Museum is open every day, but some galleries close on Friday mornings) and suggests alternatives in case of unforeseen events. I also appreciated the ability to customize: when I asked to add an evening in Heliopolis to see the colonial architecture, it recalibrated the itinerary without any issues.

There are limitations and it's worth mentioning them. Price information is indicative and should always be verified: taxi costs in Cairo vary greatly based on negotiation and the use of apps like Uber or Careem. Additionally, Secret World does not handle direct bookings: it tells you what to do, but you then have to organize tickets and transfers on your own. It's not a serious flaw, but those looking for an all-in-one service should know this in advance.

Comparison with competitors and final vote

I have used Google Travel and TripAdvisor in the past to plan similar trips. The main difference is the consistency of the itinerary: Google gives you fragmented information that you have to piece together, TripAdvisor focuses on reviews but does not build a plan. Secret World, on the other hand, thinks like a friend who knows Cairo well: it gives you a pre-made route, with an internal logic that saves time and effort. Compared to other AI planners like Wanderlog, Secret World seemed more precise on practical details and less generic in descriptions.

The final vote is 9 out of 10. I take off one point only for the lack of integrated bookings, which would make the experience truly complete. For everything else, if you are planning a trip to Cairo and want to avoid losing precious days due to wrong logistics, Secret World is the most useful tool I have found in 2026. Try Secret World for free and build your itinerary for Cairo in just a few minutes: you might be surprised at how much time you can save right from the first session.
