The construction of the religious settlement dates back to the second half of the 16th century, when the Dominican monks who owned the ancient Cenobio di S.Margherita Vecchia alla Chiaolella, moved away because of the Saracen raids. In the harsh winter of 1956 the church and the convent suffered major collapses, also as a result of the collapse of the large arches that supported it, and only a few rooms of the lower levels were saved, which are developed around the interesting system of cisterns for the collection of rainwater. The restoration of the church hall was completed in September 2012, while that of the convent below must be completed. The position of the architectural complex, located halfway between the village of Corricella at the entrance of the complex and the village of Terra Murata, is in a place of extraordinary scenic beauty, the terrace opens onto the village of Corricella. Currently the church is home to exhibitions and cultural events.
