Sant’Angelo Muxaro and the albergo diffuso at Val di Kam

Sant’Angelo Muxaro is a small town in the Sicilian hinterland that contains excavations that have uncovered tombs dating back to the 7th-5th century BC. It is a land still untouched by mass tourism and has a population of just over 1,000 inhabitants, who you will immediately get talking to after opening the gates of the albergo diffuso Val di Kam. lts reception is in the main square of the town (where you will immediately receive some maps for excursions), and also serves as the hall and sitting room. Like all squares, it functions as a meeting place, and you can quickly make friends. If you still haven’t met anyone, however, you soon will: dinner is served with a family and you eat it in the home of one of the locals. If, on the other hand, you would prefer some peace and quiet, your simple and not luxurious accommodation will have everything you need to prepare a dinner of your own and decide on the program for the next day, which is sure to include a stop at the dairy to taste the scalding ricotta cheese or the town bakery for ‘cunzatu’ (seasoned) bread, before the spectacular Valley of the Temples in Agrigento, which is just over 30 kilometers from the village.
