Sanliurfa is a beautiful city in Turkey (also known as Urfa or by its old name, Edessa), known as the City of Prophets. The faithful are in fact convinced that Sanliurfa gave, besides Job, the birthplace of Abraham (the Mevlid-i Halil Camii Mosque was erected near the cave where the prophet was born and where he is said to have been hidden for 7 years to escape the massacre of newborn males ordered by Nemrut – or the biblical Nimrod – to escape the prophecy) and many are the legends that make some of its sacred places for Christians, Jews and Muslims.
