Friar Umile from Bisignano, born Lucantonio Pirozzo, was born in Bisignano on August 26, 1582, entered the history of religious faith for his thaumaturgical skills, began his novitiate in the convent in Mesoraca in 1609. The extraordinary mystical abilities of the humble fraticello reached Pope Gregory XV who wanted him in Rome where he also remained under the pontificate of Urban VIII. A life made up of hardships and privations in the name of God which led to his death in Bisignano on 26 November 1637. In 1882 he was beatified by Leo XIII. Pope John Paul II proclaimed the universal holiness of the humble friar of Bisignano on 19 May 2002.
