Palazzo Salis is perhaps the most important private palace in Valtellina and will amaze you with the beauty of its interior and garden.
The palace, dating back to the seventeenth century, was the home of the Salis family that, since 1600, has played an important role in the history of Valtellina, which will be told in the museum tour.
The rooms are all richly decorated and one is more beautiful than the other. In a town like Tirano, which the collective imagination associates almost exclusively with pizzoccheri, Bernina Express and mountain walks, one does not expect a riot of art of this kind. In fact, seeing so much beauty in this mountain context has a strange… and beautiful effect :). The Salis family was very attentive to the artistic aspect, so as to have made this humble dwelling a precious treasure chest. Inside the palace there is a small church, very suggestive, that communicates with the other rooms. Very beautiful also the wide Italian garden that remains beyond the courtyard and that observes the mountain.
