The Museo Storico dei Vigili del Fuoco proposes a fascinating itinerant journey, immersed in a spectacular environment, which tries to fill a void of knowledge, the one related to the history of rescue in Rome.
During the visit you will meet personalities, emperors, popes, and the heroes in charge of safeguarding the city’s safety. Above all, you will be able to admire the valuable scenic reconstructions relating to the most "disastrous" and "tragic" events in the history of the city, from the famous "Nero’s Fire" in 64 AD, to the fire that almost devoured St. Peter’s Basilica in 847, to the events linked to the descent of the Lansquenets, responsible for the "Sack of Rome" in 1527, up to the reconstruction of another tragic event, the most recent one, the bombing of Rome on 19 July 1943.
There is also a section of the museum that offers visitors the reality of the organization of the fire service today, with spaces reserved for the "specializations" of the body, such as those dedicated to divers, helicopters, speleo-alpine-fluvial service.
