The Church of San Bernardo alle Terme is a building of worship of Rome, located in the historical center of the city, in the Esquilino district; it is built inside a structure of the Baths of Diocletian. In ancient times, in fact, it was one of the four circular towers that stood on either side of the remains of the Baths of Diocletian. In 1598 Countess Caterina Nobili Sforza had the idea to transform it into a church. Similar to a miniature Pantheon, the cylindrical church has an octagonal coffered dome that receives light from a large central circular hole. The exterior is decorated with an architectural composition (1598) with pilasters and stucco frames, including the portal, niches and squares. Above the cornice, there is an octagonal attic-like elevation with large oval cornices. Inside, around the perimeter, divided by an order of pilasters, there are eight large raised niches containing statues of saints in stucco, made by Mariani in 1600.
