In the eastern part of Slovenia, Lower Styria, among the green hills where forests and vineyards alternate, lies the municipality of Rogaska Slatina with its spa and healing waters. The beneficial power of these waters is recorded in a written record dating back to 1572. The fame of the water, starting in 1665, conquered the nobility and the court of the Habsburgs, who usually went to Rogaska Slatina for holidays and cures until the 19th century. At the beginning of the 20th century a more mineralized water source was found which was named Donat Mg because of its high magnesium content. Its qualities, according to experts, cure and prevent diabetes, metabolic diseases and also help to regain shape, lose weight and fight stress. Not to be missed is a visit to the Rogaška Crystal factory where the three centuries old tradition of master glassmakers has been introduced since 1926. The famous engraved and ground crystal artefacts come from here. You can also take a guided tour of the hand-blown and ground glass production and those who want to can buy fine glassware.
