Lakshman Jhula is a suspension bridge across the river Ganges, located 5 kilometres (3 mi) north-east of the city of Rishikesh. Lakshman Jhula was completed in 1929.It is an important landmark in Rishikesh. It connects the north and the east parts of Rishikesh and, during the day, is bustling with activity. The locals use it to cut short their commute and during the day it’s jam-packed with people.
However, in the late evenings and at night it is like a whole different place. The bridge is silent and the light from the nearby shops light up the area beautifully. It is a great place to visit after dark and enjoy the quiet of the night.
