Torre Rinalda is a Salento seaside resort that takes its name from the 16th century tower of the same name built by the Spanish to defend Salento from Saracen pirate attacks.
The ancient watchtower, today reduced to a ruin, has a truncated pyramidal structure with a square base. It was built around the 16th century using regular carparo blocks. Despite its poor state of conservation, two small windows that also served as slits are still visible, placed respectively on the side overlooking the sea and on the north side. You can still see a part of the barrel vault, now almost completely collapsed. It has a slight scarp. The upper part is completely destroyed. Considering that it was built in the same period as many others that were erected in the area, it can be said that it was divided into two floors by a string-course bull and that it had twelve embrasures, three on each side, and the upper part had beard batteries.
