The Maramotti Collection is a private contemporary art collection that opened to the public in 2007, in the historical headquarters of the Max Mara company, in Reggio Emilia, by the desire of the brand’s founder, Achille Maramotti. It consists of a significant selection of over two hundred works that represent only a part of the iconographic heritage built up over forty years of passionate collecting. In addition to presenting a permanent exhibition, the Collection organizes temporary exhibitions, invites international artists to create site-specific projects, arranges themed conversations, organizes contemporary music concerts, commissions dance performances in collaboration with I Teatri Fondazione di Reggio Emilia – Festival Aperto and participates in meetings dedicated to artists’ books. There is an Art Archive and Library that includes more than ten thousand objects, including volumes and documents belonging to different nuclei: the historical collections of the collector, Achille Maramotti, and Mario Diacono, a man of letters, gallery owner and art critic, who had a close intellectual relationship with the collector for over thirty years.
