Through various thematic routes, the exhibition Museo Dantesco aims to enhance the role that the city of Ravenna played in the years of exile of the poet. The thematic core of the museum is Dante’s iconography, represented through busts, paintings, medals and icons of the Supreme Poet, but above all through an interesting reflection on his real physiognomic features, in the light of recent university research. Then are reconstructed the memories linked to Dante’s funeral monument, built at the end of the 18th century to a design by Camillo Morigia and the well-known story of the translation of the poet’s bones, accidentally found in 1865.
The exhibition makes use of numerous video contributions and multimedia products, including versions of the Commedia in several languages, in order to involve visitors of all nationalities and ages.
