The garden, in the heart of the historical centre, has existed since the 15th century and is surrounded by the palaces that belonged to the noble families of Ravenna. This green corner, in the shadow of the dome of the Cathedral and behind the Neonian Baptistery, is today a hidden treasure of peace and beauty.
The nineteenth-century layout has been preserved and still has a small wrought-iron fountain in the centre; the beds of Mediterranean herbs and other lesser-known species, handed down in the apothecaries’ recipe books, have been reconstructed in a philological manner.
So today it is possible to have tea among caper plants and butcher’s broom, or among the vegetables of our gardens, such as chicory and artichokes.
