The Priamar Fortress in Savona is an imposing military complex that dominates the city centre at the port. Built between 1542 and 1544 by the Genoese as part of the interventions aimed at the final subjugation of the city of Savona by them, and enlarged several times, takes its name from the hill immediately overlooking the sea on which it stands. According to some scholars, the name may derive from "pietra sul mare" (stone on the sea) in the Ligurian language, or from "pietra cattiva" (bad stone, i.e. crumbly), and it is certainly the most important fortification in all of western Liguria.
The Fortress is also considered one of the most exciting places to kiss, with a breathtaking view of the city.
It is no coincidence that more and more people from Savona choose it as the location for their wedding party.
