Vyšehrad, a historic fortress on the rock that was the seat of the Bohemian kings throughout the 11th century, is a place woven with history and legends. And even at the beginning of the 21st century it retains a magical atmosphere and a touch of mystery. Visitors are attracted by the beautiful views of old Prague, the original fortifications that surround all of Vyšehrad and the quiet corners in the parks. In the centre is the Church of St. Peter and Paul, whose silhouette with two towers is one of the inextricably linked symbols of Prague. The relics of St. Valentine (a scapula placed in a precious reliquary adorned with gold), which seem to have been brought to Prague from Italy by Charles IV himself, are kept in the local repository. In the period around 14.2 the procession of St. Valentine takes place in the church, linked to the display of this precious reliquary.
