Pordoi, wedged between Sass Pordoi and Sass Becé, demarcates the border between the provinces of Trento and Belluno and is 12 km from Canazei characterized by 28 hairpin bends. It is one of the 4 passes of the Strada delle Dolomiti, built in the early 1900s to connect Bolzano with Cortina and encourage the development of tourism in the Ladin valleys.
From the pass you can reach the Boé Group thanks to a modern cable car, which in just a few minutes takes you to the 2950 meters of Sass Pordoi, where your gaze is lost 360° over the entire Alpine arc. From here you can face on skis the challenging descent of the fork of the same name or descend along the Val Lasties ropeway.
Important pages of our history are linked to Pordoi: from the battles of World War I, still witnessed today by the German charnel house, to Maria Piaz, a pioneer of tourism in Val di Fassa and sister of the famous mountaineer Tita Piaz, and to the sporting exploits with the Giro d´Italia, as the monument to Fausto Coppi reminds us.
