Palazzo Podestà is an imposing historic building located in the historic center of Genoa, specifically in Piazza Matteotti. Built in the 12th century as a residence for the city’s podestà, it was subsequently enlarged and modified over the centuries until it assumed its present appearance, characterized by a mixture of architectural styles.The main facade, facing the square, features a portico with round arches, surmounted by three-mullioned and two-mullioned windows. The main entrance is located in the center of the facade and features a white marble portal, surmounted by a wrought-iron balcony.Palazzo Podesta’s garden is one of its hidden treasures. It is a green area of about 1,200 square meters, which extends behind the building. The multi-level garden features a wide variety of plants, including mature trees, flowering shrubs, hedges, flower beds and lawns. In addition, the garden is enriched by numerous fountains, statues, ponds and other decorative elements, which create a magical and evocative atmosphere.The garden of Palazzo Podestà is open to the public during some special occasions, such as the "Springtime of Museums," but you can also visit it by booking a private guided tour.
