The Fontana della Pigna consists of a simple and elegant stem, in the centre of a small basin, on which two stylised tulip corollas support a pine cone. The water comes out of two lateral spouts and collects in basins on the ground protected by four small columns. The fountain was commissioned by the City of Rome, who wanted to restore in various points of the city some symbols of ancient districts or trades that had disappeared: this, evidently, symbolizes the name of the district. The work was entrusted to Pietro Lombardi in 1927.
