The "Ciciu d’Capdan" (New Year’s Eve cake) is a traditional cake from Cuneo and other areas of Piedmont (in the Alessandria area, for example, it is called Bragton-Braghettone).

It has a bamboo shape, a golden colour and a sweet taste. The ingredients used for the dough are: flour, sugar, butter, milk, brewer’s yeast, salt, egg yolks and caramelized sugar.Ciciu d’ Capdan was given by godfathers and godmothers to their godchildren on New Year’s Day.
Today it is a gesture of good wishes towards relatives and friends, always on the occasion of the New Year celebrations.
