Reach Piazzale della Libertà and take a photo in front of one of the symbols of the city: the Sfera Grande by the famous sculptor Arnaldo Pomodoro, which the citizens of Pesaro call friendly, the "Ball".
The imposing Sphere lying on the surface of the water of a fountain from which you can see the sea, is a bronze casting made in 1998 by the sculptor Arnaldo Pomodoro on the polyester model that arrived in Pesaro in 1971 but was made in 1967 for the Montreal Expo. The original work is now in Rome in front of the main entrance to the Farnesina, the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The square is a popular meeting point where, in summer and beyond, the municipality organizes all kinds of activities, from music to sports. Right on the square you will find one of the most important examples of Liberty architecture in Italy that you have probably already seen in your high school art history books, the Villino Ruggeri.
