Located next to the Pompidou Centre, the Igor Stravinsky fountain designed by the artists Jean Tinguely and Niki de Saint Phalle was inaugurated in 1983. It is a striking work, and its 16 colourful sculptures spouting jets of water are intended to represent the work of the famous Russian composer.
On a pedestrian-only square, the Stravinsky fountain is encircled by a few restaurants, the IRCAM centre for contemporary music and the Saint-Merri Church. It is a pleasant and popular place to stroll around or sit and relax.
