Pappa al pomodoro is a traditional Tuscan recipe made famous first by "Il Giornalino di Gian Burrasca" (Vamba, 1907) and then by Rita Pavone who in 1965, on the occasion of the television adaptation of the book, sang "W la pappa con il pomodoro" making it famous not only in Italy but also in the world. The secret of this dish lies in the ingredients: stale bread, tomatoes, garlic, oil and basil, just put them together, and if they are good they do practically everything by themselves.
