Oulu Cathedral (in Finnish: Oulun tuomiokirkko) is the Evangelical Lutheran cathedral in Oulu, Finland, and is the seat of the Lutheran diocese of Oulu. The church was built in 1777 as a tribute to King Gustav III of Sweden and was dedicated to his wife Sofia Magdalena of Denmark. The wooden structure of the cathedral burned during the great fire in the city of Oulu in 1822. The church was rebuilt and designed by the famous architect Johann Carl Ludwig Engel. The restoration work was completed in 1832, while the bell tower was built in 1845.
