At the foot of the Montagnone di Nusco, stands the Abbey of Fontigliano, founded in the Lombard era and suppressed in 1460. The land on which the building stands is subject to a secular landslide, which imposed the reconstruction of the structure in 1950, although the facade, with a mullioned window in Gothic style, probably dates back to 1842, when it was rebuilt using various materials. Inside, only a wooden statue of the Madonna of Fontigliano remains, representing the "Seated Virgin holding the Child" which, although recalling Byzantine motifs, perhaps dates back to the 15th century. A copy of it was in the church of Santa Maria la Longa, in Cassano Irpino. Next to the Abbey of Fontigliano, until recently, there was the small museum "Antiquarium", with archaeological finds from the Roman era, which attracted several archaeology scholars, including Mommsen. The Curia decided to move the museum inside the Episcopio of Nusco.
