The center of the fair became the main building in the spirit of classicism and side administrative buildings that form the central square. A 3.5-meter (11-foot) high dam was built to protect against flooding. On November 4, 2017 a new multimedia exhibition "Russia – My History" was opened in the main building of the fair. The exhibition focuses on the history of Nizhny Novgorod, starting with the Finno-Ugric peoples. On the territory of the complex there are sections that tell about the founding of the city, the struggle for independence in the Time of Troubles and the bombing of the city during the Great Patriotic War. Entrance to the exhibition was free on the first day of work, so there was a long line in front of the main building of the fair.
