The oasis of Vallevecchia, between Bibione and Caorle, is the only stretch of beach in the Upper Adriatic that is still uncontaminated. Vallevecchia is an island that extends for about 900 hectares and is bordered on four sides by sea, lagoon and river waters, which contribute to create ecosystems of considerable complexity and ecological interest: a perfect refuge for lovers of nature, peace and quiet, characterized by a beautiful natural beach, wild and sandy!
Once all this area was lagoon and only after the drainage and reclamation of the marshland, carried out in the 60s, this land became an island! Today it remains the last strip of coastline in the Upper Adriatic not urbanized and separated from the man-made world by a characteristic system of dunes:
In summer it is very popular with tourists, but in the remaining months it is the ideal destination for discovering brackish and freshwater marshes, dune biotopes, pine forests and woods characteristic of humid environments. The area is criss-crossed by many paths and lanes, so there are several ways to visit it depending on your desire to walk.
