The Elena Aldobrandini Textile and Clothing Museum is located in the monumental complex of Piazzetta Mondragone. The monumental complex, founded in 1655 as a retreat for Matrone and noble Virgins in difficulty, unwilling to take their vows, maintained over the centuries, although changing its name, the function of support and training of female culture and work. Since 2003, the restored palace has housed the Textile and Clothing " Museum; Elena Aldobrandini" which bears witness with its heritage to the creativity, taste and ancient tradition that southern craftsmanship boasts in the fashion and costume sector. Its rooms offer to the eye the lightness of lace and laces that adorned the evening and day dresses of the noble Neapolitan ladies who lived between the late nineteenth and early twentieth century and the refinement of their accessories: velvet gloves, finely embroidered walking bags, hats of all styles, satin and lace umbrellas with precious tortoiseshell handles. The exhibition is enriched by the collection donated to the museum by the Neapolitan designer Fausto Sarli in 2003, and by Livio De Simone’s collection, which includes not only the clothes of Mare Moda Capri, but also fabrics and furnishing panels.
