The Gaetano Filangieri Civic Museum was founded by Gaetano Filangieri iuniore (1824-92), Prince of Satrian, who collected all his various and valuable art collections, numismatics, library and Filangieri archive. Unfortunately, part of the material collected was destroyed in the fire set by German troops in the deposit of San Paolo di Belsito in September 1943.
The museum also has a detached section in Villa Livia in the Grifeo 13 park, donated by Domenico de Luca Montalto, with collections of paintings, porcelain and furniture and where the International Centre for Numismatic Studies is located.
