The church of Santa Maria in Portico, which can be reached by going back up to the church of the same name via mail immediately after Palazzo Sirignano. It was built by the Duchess of Gravina Felice Maria Orsini who donated some of her properties to the Lucchese Fathers of the Mother of God in 1632. The name is reminiscent of the Roman church of Santa Maria in Campitelli on the Portico d’ Ottavia from which the fathers came. The polychrome facade in piperno is the work of Arcangelo Guglielminelli. The interior is decorated with valuable paintings of the eighteenth century and stuccoes by Antonio Vaccaro, who also designed the altar. In the sacristy there is a crib with interesting 17th century pieces. If we walk along via Piscicelli, we can admire the church of the Ascension in Chiaia, of 14th century origin, but entirely rebuilt by Cosimo Fanzago in the first half of the 17th century. Inside are preserved valuable paintings by Luca Giordano.
