In Via della Sanità at numbers 2-4 we find Palazzo S. Felice, built by Federico Sanfelice for his family in 1728, as can be read in the inscription at the top of the right portal. In this project, for the first time the famous architect invented the exceptional open staircase that will be repeated, with some variations, ten years later, in the palace of the Spaniard. To his contemporaries, the staircase looked similar to a large bird with spread wings, and so it was called "falcon’s wing". To better understand the beauty and functionality of the structure, the best thing to do is to walk along it: from the first shelf you can see the back garden. Even the second courtyard (n. 2), although it is now devoid of the original decorations, has an elliptical staircase at the bottom that reserves another small architectural surprise.
