Naples and its magnificent ‘wounded’ Crucifix

The ‘wounded’ Crucifix of Naples, dated 1599, comes from the Basilica of the Holy Spirit and is the work of Michelangelo Naccherino. During a fire, the sculpture detached from the wall and fell to the ground, causing considerable damage to the marble. Christ arouses great devotion on the part of the faithful and excites for its beauty, since that marble seems to show the wounds of the flesh.
