Naica Mine is a working mine in Mexico, renowned for its extraordinary selenite crystals, some of the largest of their kind. The mine’s primary resources are lead, zinc, and silver, but it has become famous for the Cave of Crystals where these giant selenite formations are found. The crystals in this cave can reach lengths of over 11 meters and weigh several tons, making it a spectacular geological phenomenon.
The environmental conditions within the Cave of Crystals are extreme, with temperatures reaching up to 58 degrees Celsius and about 90-99% humidity. This makes exploring the cave possible only with proper protective gear and for very limited periods. Despite these challenges, the Naica Mine offers invaluable insights into geological and mineral formations.
