The Torture Museum, organized by the Association "Naples History and Culture", was built in the historic center, in Vico Santa Luciella 18 / B, near the most famous Via San Gregorio Armeno. The aim pursued is not only to expose a unique collection of instruments of torture, but also to show the courage with which the city of Naples opposed the establishment of the Inquisition. In a historical period such as that, the city under the leadership of Viceroy Don Pedro de Toledo, managed to prevent so many atrocities were also committed in its territory.
The collection includes rare pieces that start from 1500 until you get to reconstructions of the late nineteenth and early twentieth century, original instruments, ancient and unobtainable some very well known, others less known and sophisticated.
