The Museum of the Risorgimento of Palazzo Ravaschieri was born from the desire to preserve and make known to the citizens of Chiavari the numerous documents and important cimenli that testify the deep bond of Chiavari and its hinterland with the protagonists of the Risorgimento: in the Museum are, in fact, exposed the family trees of Garibaldi, Mazzini and Bixio that attest to their origins in Chiavari. Among the main documents of the Risorgimento there are numerous autograph letters by garibaldi and Mazzini, 40 original files of the " Giobane italia" and the original print of the list of participants in the Expedition of the Thousand. The numerous lithographs bear witness to episodes of Risorgimento battles. Unique documents are the three registers relating to the election of popes Pius VIII, Leo XII, Gregory XVI; unique is also the so-called "Lettera Graziosa" by Pope Innocent IV Fieschi. The Museum of the Risorgimento has been attached to the Museum of the Fighters (relics and finds from the two world wars) since 1999.
