The Museum La Casa del Nespolo has been opened in the historical centre of Aci Trezza, to make known and relive the setting of I Malavoglia, the famous novel by Giovanni Verga.
This very house of Aci Trezza, famous for its wonderful panorama, would seem, according to the description of the novel, to be the one in which the realist writer set the events of the family of Padron ‘Ntoni. Situated at the top of a flight of steps, next to the Church of San Giovanni, the building of the small exhibition structure allows you to get to know what was a typical Sicilian house of the mid-nineteenth century, with the entrance characterized by a round arch, the courtyard, inside which you can admire the old medlar, and the garden. Inside the Museum is composed of two rooms, one dedicated to the film La terra trema, another masterpiece of realism, shot in Aci Trezza by Luchino Visconti in 1947, and the other dedicated to fishing tools and the daily life of the inhabitants of the village at the time of Malavoglia.
