The Museum für Gestaltung Zürich is the leading Swiss museum for design and visual communication. It has two sites, including the main building at Ausstellungsstrasse and the Toni-Areal. Unique among Swiss and international design and architecture museums, it forms part of the Department of Cultural Analysis and Education of the ZHdK, and ensures exciting exchanges between teaching, research, and education. Its programme bears the hallmarks of an open-minded stance toward all areas of design. The museum is committed especially to the present and to modernity. Its principal areas of interest are design, visual communication, and architecture. In the Toni-Areal, the museum unites its internationally important collection with more than half a million objects from the history of graphics and design. The archives are made available for research and teaching and can also be visited on guided tours.
