The Weisshorn, 4506 m, while not being able to count on the planetary fame of the nearby Matterhorn, can certainly rival it for the majesty and elegance of its forms: it is a stupendous and imposing three-sided pyramid, a superb combination of rock and ice, from which the modern and disfiguring ski lifts (unlike the Matterhorn) have fortunately been kept away.
