The Fontana dei Monti is located in via di S.Vito, along the side wall of the church of SS.Vito e Modesto and is raised on the street level by stepped elements. It is composed by an allegorical ensemble inspired by the coat of arms of Monti district: three superimposed starred mountains (referring to Esquilino, Viminale and Celio, once all included in Monti district), from which water flows into as many suspended and slightly moulded basins. The fountain was designed in 1927 by the architect Pietro Lombardi, who was commissioned by the Municipality of Rome to design other fountains, all alluding, in their decorations, to the coats of arms of the districts or to the activities of the places.
