Montalcino and "L’arborario" in the artists’ vineyard

A visit to the NostraVita winery in Montalcino will let you discover an excellent wine, but also appreciate the creativity and sensitivity of the family that produces it, their artistic projects and their philosophy of life. They don’t like to call their property ‘vineyard’, but ’10 thousand plants’; they are also adorning their land with sculptures, some of their own and others by international artists, according to the idea that art always interacts with nature (and vice versa, in fact they also have a tree in their living room). And the hinge nature-art, so important for this family, is the "arborario", a word borrowed from "herbarium", meaning "tree of trees": these are in fact "books" each dedicated to a tree, each made from the wood of the tree it wants to illustrate, with inside its pollen, leaves, resins, parasites, a monograph and further information. These works, created by the owner of the farm, Annibale Parisi, with his naturalist friend Mario Morellini, are then placed on a special shelf in the shape of a tree, in a room that also houses a well-stocked library on the history of the Val d’Orcia, as well as a collection of tree heather pipes, also by Annibale. In addition, each bottle of Brunello has a hand-painted label, certifying its uniqueness. The tastings are free
