The Savoy Castle or Royal Palace is the undisputed symbol of Moncalieri as well as the main attraction and is on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The Castle was originally a castle-fortress. It was built in medieval times precisely for the purpose of defense, but later the Savoy family transformed it into a rich and opulent residence to stay in.The building was also used as a place for the education of princes. In addition, family moments were consumed here, the memories of which can still be found today in the royal apartments.Currently, Moncalieri Castle is partly home to the Alfredo Serranti Carabinieri Barracks and partly a permanent exhibition.Inside, it is possible to visit the rooms with the furnishings of the past, the Roccolo Tower, the Vignolante House and the Water Lily Pond. The Savoy Castle of Moncalieri is entirely surrounded by English gardens that extend over 10 hectares on the hillside.
